Destiny Garza – 2014 2B for Plano East High School
As the dark clouds rolled in Friday evening, the Plano East softball team couldn’t get a hit. But after a lightning delay, Plano East lit up the scoreboard to beat Haltom 5-0 in a one-game playoff.
Special thanks to our very own weather man Juan Garza.
Check out Garza and her Panther’s details from the thundering victory here:

Ciera Nunez – 2015 2B for Amarillo Randall HIgh School
GAME 1:
The Randall Lady Raiders jumped to a 9-0 lead after three innings and used that momentum to breeze past Canutillo, 10-2, on Friday in Game 1 of their Region I-4A best-of-three area playoff series in Andrews.
Tiger’s very own speedster and leader in stolen bases is keeping that record for her high school team too. Going 2 – 3 and taking 3 stolen bases to help her team in the 10 – 2 victory going into Game 2.

GAME 2:
Nunez and her Raider’s sweep El Paso Canutillo to advance in the title run. Nunez contributed by going 3 – 4 with 4 stolen bases, 1 RBI on a triple down the left field line to keep her Raider’s alive another week in High School playoffs.
Katie Holehouse – 2014 1B/DH for Flower Mound High School
The Flower Mound softball team scored its first run only five hitters into Thursday’s game. And with the way its defense was playing, the lead felt comfortable the rest of the night.
Flower Mound had 10 hits, but its sparkling defense was the difference in a 5-0 victory over Richland in a one-game playoff at Trophy Club Byron Nelson. Flower Mound (24-11) will face the winner of Friday night’s one-game matchup of Plano East and Haltom.

Monica Cherry – 2014 P/SS for Bishop Lynch High School
With the Friar’s up 2 – 1 after a complete 5 innings, Cherry looked to have the game in the palm of her hand to get the team another week closer to their goal. Then came the top of the 6th with a change in lead to Victoria St. Joseph up 5 – 2. The Friar’s tied it up at the bottom of the inning to make the 7th inning one to remember for our 18u Tiger’s Monica Cherry. Every kid pictures this moment at one time or another while taking reps in the cage or situational practices. Bases loaded, no outs and Monica up to bat. She hits a shot over 2B to score the game winning run.
Audrey Martinez – 2013 P/1B/SS for Hillcrest High School
Hoping to celebrate her 16th birthday with an extension in Hillcrest’s playoff run, but instead her team took a tough sweep from McKinney High School.
Kali Bolter – 2015
Mansfield Legacy takes game one by 2.
In an area-round matchup featuring teams ranked in the top 3 of the final SportsDayHS 5A rankings, Mansfield Legacy managed five runs and 11 hits off Plano all-state pitcher Kat Batey in a 5-3 win in Game 1 of the three-game series.
